We currently have an opportunity for a Cost Accounting Manager at our East Alton, Illinois, facility.

    Responsibilities

    Purpose of Role

    The Cost Accounting Manager works closely with plant management and industrial engineers to understand plant performance and helps achieve operational excellence. The role is responsible for the preparation of standard cost across East Alton, analysis of manufacturing variances, and certain general ledger accounting activities.

     

    Core Accountabilities

    • Assist the Plant Controller with the day-to-day, monthly and year-end operations of the Accounting/ Finance Department, including plant spending and budget review and analysis.
    • Collaborate with plant management in preparing the weekly/monthly facility financial reporting package.
    • Lead and coordinate the development of a standard costing system.
    • Work with engineering to maintain and continuously improve standard costing system.
    • Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
    • Drive improvements into the plant cost environment through analysis and correction of manufacturing variances.
    • Collaborate with finance corporate team to verify accuracy of books and records.
    • Participate in worldwide sharing of best practices; including developing/documenting cost accounting policy and internal controls.
    • Recommend updates to desktop procedures and process flows as part of best practice of maintaining current documentation.
    • Build relationships with operations and management to be a trusted advisor and business partner – providing ‘real time’ support, communicating effectively, and influencing decisions in an effort to maximize shareholder value and returns.

    Qualifications

    Position Requirements

    1. BS in Accounting/Finance with CPA/CMA preferred;
    2. Minimum 8 years’ experience within plant accounting environment with focus on management and cost accounting;
    3. Full understanding of standard costing, accounting systems and procedures;
    4. Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting methods and concepts;
    5. ERP experience, preferably SAP;
    6. Strong computer skills (MS Office).
