    GBC Metals, LLC, doing business as Olin Brass, utilizes more than 60 different copper-based alloys to produce specialized sheet and strip products for a variety of end uses.  Primary markets for our high-performance products include automotive, microelectronic, and communication interconnects, as well as a long history in the supply of standard alloys in the manufacture of ammunition, coinage, and builders’ hardware.  We draw strength and success from the dedication of our employees, many of whom have spent decades working in our industry. We currently have an opportunity for an Electrical Engineer at our East Alton, Illinois, facility.


    Purpose of Role

    Responsible for the design, deployment and maintenance of a broad range of systems in a complex manufacturing operation.  Manages capital and maintenance projects.  Familiar with a variety of engineering and maintenance concepts, practices and procedures. 


    Core Accountabilities

    • Prepare projects in a consistent manner to insure project definition and team buy-in is gained.  Use the conceptual design or solution to estimate the project cost by line item.  Generate appropriate approval documents (CAR, Work order, savings documentation, etc.)
    • Implement projects from concept to completion.  Keep the project on schedule, control expenditures to avoid cost overruns, meet agreed to deliverables.
    • Keep abreast of engineering and manufacturing technological developments for the purpose of improving safety, quality, inventory reduction, on time performance, and cost reductions.
    • Assists in the troubleshooting process to assure root cause identification and resolution to maintain productivity, product quality, and minimize equipment downtime.
    • Supports and encourages employee involvement in continuous improvement activities including Safety Excellence, Lean Manufacturing, TPM and Maintenance Excellence activities.



    1. Degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
    2. Professional certification preferred.
    3. Strong electrical, electronic, PLC and process computer system troubleshooting skills on complex manufacturing equipment.
    4. Strong communication and leadership skills with experience in the engineering and maintenance of industrial machinery and equipment.
