    GBC Metals, LLC, doing business as Olin Brass, utilizes more than 60 different copper-based alloys to produce specialized sheet and strip products for a variety of end uses. Primary markets for our high-performance products include automotive, microelectronic, and communication interconnects, as well as a long history in the supply of standard alloys in the manufacture of ammunition, coinage, and builders’ hardware. We currently have an opportunity for an Operations Director at our East Alton, Illinois, facility.

    Responsibilities

    Purpose of Role

    Lead key integrated manufacturing strategies focused on “Operational Excellence” and continuous improvements in safety, customer service, cost, productivity and quality.

     

    Core Accountabilities

    • Implement safety and health policies, practices, and procedures throughout facilities in compliance with governmental regulations including Federal, State and Local laws and regulations while creating a culture of employee engagement.
    • Develop operational systems which utilize best practice manufacturing practices and methodologies to achieve targeted customer on-time performance and continuous cost improvement initiatives.
    • Implement a structured Management Operation System designed to capitalize on achieving goals through role accountabilities.
    • Leverage the collective bargaining agreement to maximize labor flexibility and efficiency supporting cost improvement goals.
    • Implement a lean manufacturing environment creating customer value through strict standard operating procedures and system level problem solving tools.

    Qualifications

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business required; Master’s Degree a plus;
    • Ten (10) years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with increasing responsibilities;
    • Maintenance and planning experience highly desirable;
    • Previous experience should include plant manager level or equivalent;
    • Excellent people skills with the ability to develop teams and individuals;
    • Strong background in the lean methodologies with proven success.
