    GBC Metals, LLC, doing business as Olin Brass, utilizes more than 60 different copper-based alloys to produce specialized sheet and strip products for a variety of end uses. Primary markets for our high-performance products include automotive, microelectronic, and communication interconnects, as well as a long history in the supply of standard alloys in the manufacture of ammunition, coinage, and builders’ hardware. We currently have an opportunity for a Safety Compliance Specialist at our Somers Thin Strip facility in Waterbury, Connecticut.


    Purpose of Role

    Lead the development and implementation of safety and health policies, practices and procedures throughout the facility while maintaining compliance with all regulatory agencies including, but not limited to, OSHA. Lead by example for continuous improvement in Safety Excellence.


    Core Accountabilities

    • Exhibit a true commitment to the vision of Olin Brass, to include: creating an environment of safety excellence; being passionate about improvement, everywhere, all the time; being empowered by communication, collaboration and teamwork.
    • Identify, investigate, report and provide guidance relative to root causes for incidents, employee safety programs and regulatory compliance relative to safety and health.
    • Conduct safety standard and compliance training; educate employees on company health and safety policies; continually promote safe practices.
    • Develop and implement company safety and health programs, which may include periodic updates of practices and policies.
    • Monitor and analyze safety trends and implement programs designed to improve company results.
    • Promote accountability at the floor level by encouraging employee accountability for safety.



    1. Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Industrial Health and Safety;
    2. Outstanding working knowledge of principles and practices of Safety and Health;
    3. Demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills, efficient, flexible, accurate, detail oriented and a team player;
    4. Self-Directed multi-tasker with exceptional organizational and project management skills;
    5. Ability to communicate governmental regulations, facility standards and policies effectively and efficiently to internal and external customers;
    6. Requires skills to manage conflict, coach and mentor.
