Overview

GBC Metals, LLC, doing business as Olin Brass, utilizes more than 60 different copper-based alloys to produce specialized sheet and strip products for a variety of end uses. Primary markets for our high-performance products include automotive, microelectronic, and communication interconnects, as well as a long history in the supply of standard alloys in the manufacture of ammunition, coinage, and builders’ hardware. We currently have an opportunity for a Director, Production Planning at our East Alton, Illinois, facility.

Responsibilities

Purpose of Role

Reporting directly to the Vice President, Manufacturing, this role will integrate all plant level production planning processes to devise a connected manufacturing planning and control organization, with all appropriate functionality consistent with APICS and lean enterprise approaches. Develop a high performing team with a deep knowledge of supply chain best practices that values and utilizes data driven processes to identify and solve problems. Works with Operations, Supply Chain and support group personnel to maximize flow velocity, identify and optimize constraint centers, minimize inventory levels, and maximize customer service levels to achieve ‘world class’ performance.

 

Core Accountabilities

  • Lead production planning teams to implement ‘best practice’ manufacturing planning and control systems, methods and metrics to achieve targeted on-time performance.
  • Optimize supply chain inventory investments by utilizing ‘best practice’ planning, tracking and control techniques to achieve targeted financial objectives and inventory turn rates.
  • Develop and oversee Master Production Planning processes that support effective utilization of plant capacities, maintain customer delivery promises and achieve the tactical objectives of the S&OP plans.
  • Ensure 'best practice' planning and execution systems are deployed that functionally address demand and labor planning, inventory planning, material and production planning, customer order management, scheduling and sequencing, and lead time management.
  • Establish a unified manufacturing planning organization that seeks application of continuous improvement concepts and best practices that ensure long-term growth and success of individuals and business.

Qualifications

Position Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree required in Engineering or Business; APICS certification in CPIM is a plus;
  2. 5-8 years’ experience in operational planning and/or supply chain management roles with significant complexity and accountability;
  3. Experience in a manufacturing industry with both unionized and non-union workforces is desirable;
  4. Experience must demonstrate ability to effectively manage and lead progressively more complex assignments, with a strong manufacturing background;
  5. Experience leading continuous improvement, transformational change, organizational development, building positive relationships with all levels of the organization;, must have proven ability to communicate effectively with different levels of the organization, with understanding of change management principles.
