GBC Metals, LLC, doing business as Olin Brass, utilizes more than 60 different copper-based alloys to produce specialized sheet and strip products for a variety of end uses. Primary markets for our high-performance products include automotive, microelectronic and communication interconnects—as well as a long history in the supply of standard alloys in the manufacture of ammunition, coinage and builders’ hardware. We have an opportunity for a Director, Supply Chain, at our Louisville, Kentucky, office.

Responsibilities

Purpose of Role

Reporting directly to the Vice President, Strategic Sourcing & Supply Chain, this role oversees the company’s processes and systems linking the Commercial and Operations teams to effectively manage customer demand and manufacturing capacity / capabilities while developing strategies and providing strategic direction that will continuously improve the planning processes and systems, increase resource productivity, reduce costs across the entire supply chain, maximize customer service levels (OTP), and effectively manage working capital requirements in order to achieve ROIC goals.

 

Core Accountabilities

  • Champion, manage and continuously improve the 18-month rolling S&OP process designed to align the company’s strategic plans with the necessary tactical operating plans for all business segments and manufacturing facilities.
  • Manage facility loading (master schedules) to ensure alignment with the S&OP – ensuring the weekly / monthly demand loads are within agreed upon capacity and mix levels.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with the Operations, Production Planning, Sales, and Strategic Sourcing teams to drive effective scheduling and production planning processes.
  • Provide direction and leadership for weekly S&OP meetings designed to efficiently and effectively review status to current plans, identify any impediments to achieving those plans, and ensure countermeasures are in place.
  • Lead the effective management of certain sub-contractor services and processes (warehousing, shipping / TMS, plating, etc.) utilizing a total cost approach (price, recovery, quality, service) to sourcing decisions that achieve budgeted metrics.
  • Develop a high performance team through training, coaching, mentoring, and career development planning.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  1. B.S. Degree in business or technical related discipline;
  2. Minimum 5 years’ experience in production planning working directly with commercial and operations teams;
  3. APICS CPIM certification and / or MBA degree preferred;
  4. Experience with project management, business process evaluation and design, systems development, continuous improvement, and lean tools;
  5. Ability to lead by example via coaching, training, priority management, problem solving, effective communication, etc.;
  6. Must be able to work effectively and collaboratively with all other departments within the organization and resolve conflicts;
  7. Ability to understand critical customer and internal issues and effectively communicate to colleagues and customers;
  8. Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, computer, research, and data analytics skills;
  9. Ability / aspirations to live the Olin Brass vision and values;
  10. Strong financial analysis and computer skills with an emphasis on spreadsheet applications.
