Overview

GBC Metals, LLC, doing business as Olin Brass, utilizes more than 60 different copper-based alloys to produce specialized sheet and strip products for a variety of end uses. Primary markets for our high-performance products include automotive, microelectronic and communication interconnects—as well as a long history in the supply of standard alloys in the manufacture of ammunition, coinage and builders’ hardware. We have an opportunity for an Inside Sales Representative at our Louisville, Kentucky, office.

Responsibilities

Core Accountabilities

  • Sell and service a full account base, with customer satisfaction as top priority.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively and independently make decisions leading to the successful management of your accounts.  These decisions are to be made within approved Olin Brass guidelines.
  • Provide accurate sales forecast within your customer base.  Communicate in a timely manner changes that may occur within this forecast.  Forecast customer shipments to achieve an accuracy rate of 98.5 to 103.5 percent.
  • Accurately record orders (bookings), consistent with tactical plans in the mainframe consistent with the forecast, as to not overbook the facilities.  Understand alloy lead-times and book orders within the designated alloy lead-times provided by supply chain.
  • Consistently and efficiently enter accurate orders relative to customers’ instructions and corporate guidelines. Accuracy rate of 99.7% is expected.
  • Understand and meet guidelines for contractual agreements within your customer base.  Understand firm metal contracts and ensure hedges are shipped within the time constraint of the locked metal.
  • Consistently administer accurate pricing within your authority for your customer base.  Communicate pricing updates/changes to Pricing Administrator to ensure Invoicing is completed accurately. 
  • Understand and manage customers’ stock/inventory programs where required.  It is the CSR’s accountability to maintain inventory levels within program rules including Max age and/or max inventory targets.
  • Identify and grow areas for business development.  This includes current customer growth and/or new customer growth.  Monthly status report on growth initiatives and plan will be submitted. Expected growth to include new items, new customers, new volume and new profitability.
  • Continuously work to increase Olin Brass profit margins – increasing volumes and/or working to reduce cost, or increase margin.
  • Respond to new inquiries in a timely manner and follow-up on inquiries where the order was not received to understand why.  Inquiry response time expected to be no greater than 16 hours (2 working days).  It is the CSR accountability to help drive the response time down.
  • Work together in the customer service team; provide guidance and assistance to other Sales Representatives and Sales Administrators.  Work closely with the Outside Sales team to ensure we are a professional, unified team representing Olin Brass.  Finally, work cohesively with supply chain to ensure we are booking the facilities as efficiently as possible.
  • Identify Continuous improvement opportunities associated with the Sales and Marketing processes.  Examine current processes and identify, plan and execute areas where improvement can be made.

  1. Two years of customer service or equivalent experience required;
  2. Bachelor’s Degree preferred;
  3. Career driven individual with ambition and desire to succeed and grow;
  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office required, with special emphasis on Excel and Access;
  6. Strong interpersonal skills;
  7. Aptitude for detail and accuracy;
  8. Ability to prioritize workload;
  9. Must be a team player, willing to help others when needed.
