Overview

GBC Metals, LLC, doing business as Olin Brass, utilizes more than 60 different copper-based alloys to produce specialized sheet and strip products for a variety of end uses.  Primary markets for our high-performance products include automotive, microelectronic, and communication interconnects, as well as a long history in the supply of standard alloys in the manufacture of ammunition, coinage, and builders’ hardware.  We draw strength and success from the dedication of our employees, many of whom have spent decades working in our industry. We currently have an opportunity for a Systems Administrator at our East Alton, Illinois, facility.

Responsibilities

Role Purpose

The individual is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the server infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values.

 

Core Accountabilities

  • Windows Server experience.
  • Acquire, configure and maintain development, test and production servers. Support development, test and production servers including after-hours support and monitoring server usage and up-time.
  • Conducts problem analysis of server software and hardware problems, finding the resolution of server related software problems.
  • Administers security, including group policy, and backup procedures for the servers.
  • Collaboration with the network and solutions center team.
  • Duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Competencies and Qualifications

  1. High School diploma or equivalent;
  2. 3 years of IT and server support experience;
  3. 3 years of experience in maintaining and supporting a Microsoft environment;
  4. Problem solving/analysis;
  5. Participate in project planning;
  6. Good organizational skills;
  7. Provide technical and procedural direction to the company for the actual implementation of the network servers used, as well as interface with internal users, development personnel and other technical staff;
  8. Design, implement and maintain a consistent backup and disaster recovery plan;
  9. Interact with customers at the technical level, as required;
  10. Must be flexible and willing to work extended hours as necessary and recognize the need to do so;
  11. Ability to adjust scheduled time;
  12. Occasional lifting is required (25-50 Lbs);
  13. Ability to work with minimal supervision with a high degree of accuracy;
  14. Experience with Windows PowerShell scripting;
  15. Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new circumstances;
  16. Create and maintain documentation to support development efforts.
